As corporate event planners, we have seen our fair share of corporate events that fall flat. Many businesses make the mistake of treating corporate events as an obligation rather than an opportunity. A well-executed corporate event can have a significant impact on your company’s reputation, employee morale, and customer loyalty. Whether it be a brand activation, an awards ceremony, or simply a company Christmas party: injecting life and creativity into your corporate events can be a game-changer. In this blog post, we will share some of our pro tips for elevating your corporate events from boring to brilliant.

The Importance of Elevating Corporate Events

Corporate events are more than just an excuse to get out of the office for a day. These events provide an opportunity to showcase your company’s culture, values, and achievements. They can also be an excellent way to network with clients, vendors, and other industry professionals. Pro Tips for Elevating Your Corporate Events

Planning a successful corporate event requires careful consideration of a multitude of factors. The first step is to identify your goals and objectives for the event. This will help to guide your planning process and ensure that the event is aligned with your business objectives. You should also have a clear understanding of your target audience and their preferences. Once you have identified your goals and target audience, you can begin to plan the logistics of the event.

1. Choosing the right venue

The venue you choose can make or break your event. It’s important to select a location that is convenient for your attendees, has the necessary amenities, and aligns with your brand and theme. Consider the size of the venue, the layout, and the overall ambience. Don’t be afraid to negotiate on price, and be sure to read the fine print before signing any contracts.

2. Creating a memorable theme

A theme can elevate your event from ordinary to extraordinary. Choose a theme that aligns with your brand and resonates with your attendees. Consider incorporating interactive elements, such as photo booths or scavenger hunts, that tie into your theme. Use lighting, décor, and music to create a cohesive and immersive experience.

3. Incorporating interactive activities

Interactive activities are a great way to engage attendees and create a sense of community. Consider hosting a team-building exercise or a workshop that aligns with your business objectives. Photo booths, games, and experiential marketing activations are also popular options. Be sure to choose activities that are relevant, fun, and inclusive for all attendees.

4. Offering unique food and beverage options

Food and beverage can make or break your event. Consider offering unique and memorable options that align with your theme and cater to attendees’ dietary restrictions. Consider hiring a mixologist or a chef to create custom cocktails or dishes that tie into your brand or theme. Don’t forget to provide plenty of hydration options, such as water stations or infused water, to keep attendees refreshed throughout the event.

5. Using technology to enhance the experience

Technology can be a powerful tool for enhancing the event experience. Consider incorporating augmented reality, virtual reality, or interactive displays into your event. Use social media to create buzz and engage attendees before, during, and after the event. Consider using event management software to streamline the planning process and provide real-time analytics.

6. Budgeting

When it comes to planning and budgeting for your corporate event, it’s important to be strategic and realistic. Start by reviewing your objectives and audience, and then work backwards to determine the necessary elements to achieve those objectives. Create a detailed budget that includes all expenses, from venue rental and catering to marketing and staffing. Be sure to allocate funds wisely and consider contingency plans for unexpected expenses.

Need Some Inspiration?

One of the best ways to learn how to elevate your corporate events is to study successful examples. Here are a few of our favourite picks from our events portfolio:

Back to the NewDay: Following the pandemic, NewDay wanted to bring their team back together for a chance to bond and catch up after many months of isolation. We planned an extravagant retro film festival, installing four outdoor cinema screens, with each area being transformed into an immersive experience for guests. For the adventurers, guests in the Indiana Jones sector could perform heroics in an ancient tomb setting, with adrenaline-fueling activities such as rock climbing. Meanwhile, Greece fans could feel like Sandy and Danny in their very own carnival, with retro cars and classic carnival activities. We weren’t allowed to install a real boxing ring (thanks, health and safety!) so guests in the Rocky area took to the inflatable ring instead, taking a swing at each other with giant inflatable boxing gloves. Finally, Back to the Future fans were transported forward in time, hopping onto a hoverboard stimulator.

Louis Roederer x The Savoy Hotel: We were approached with a stimulating design brief from two world-renowned luxury brands. Both brands had similar objectives but needed the help of a creative partner to develop a strategy to perfectly encapsulated their shared vision. After being closed for over 12 months, the Savoy wanted to welcome a wider audience through their doors without diminishing their unparalleled reputation for luxury and service. Meanwhile, Louis Roederer wished to cultivate their brand image, showcasing to both new and existing clients the quality that distinguishes Louis Roederer from other champagnes. We transformed The Savoy’s world-renowned turning circle into an alfresco restaurant, with themed evenings, ranging from sophisticated classical renditions from the Savoy’s theatre orchestra to live DJ sets from some of the world’s top headliners. Meanwhile, our creative and production teams got to work creating the world’s first Louis Roederer pop-up store inside the walls of The Savoy, delivering a burst of gold leaf as soon as you walk down the reception steps.

Conclusion and next steps

Elevating your corporate events takes time, effort, and strategic planning, but the rewards can be significant. By choosing the right venue, creating a memorable theme, incorporating interactive activities, offering unique food and beverage options, and using technology to enhance the experience, you can create an event that stands out from the rest. Remember to plan and budget wisely, work with vendors and event partners, measure the success of your event, and follow up with attendees to continue building relationships. With these pro tips, you can take your corporate events from boring to brilliant.
